The Greece Refugee Education Project, part of LeadUp’s global initiatives, focuses on enhancing educational opportunities and support for refugee children in Greece. Since 2018, our efforts have included both on-the-ground initiatives and virtual support to address the needs of displaced young learners.
In the summer of 2019, seven LeadUp mentors and students traveled to Greece for two weeks to run an educational and moral camp for 60 refugee children. The camp provided interactive workshops, tutoring, and personal development sessions. This hands-on experience aimed to improve educational outcomes and offer emotional support, creating lasting bonds and inspiring hope among the children.
From 2018 to 2022, LeadUp conducted Zoom classes to teach English to refugee students in Greece. These virtual sessions were tailored to enhance language skills, facilitating smoother transitions as students relocated to other European countries. Additionally, our team provided moral support and built friendships, helping the children adjust to their new environments with confidence.
LeadUp has donated a total of $30,000 towards the Greece Refugee Education Project. These funds were allocated to support various aspects of the initiative, including educational materials, program development, and logistical expenses, ensuring the effective delivery of our services and maximizing our impact on the ground.
Our initiatives have equipped refugee students with crucial language skills, educational support, and emotional encouragement. Through direct engagement and virtual learning, LeadUp has made a meaningful difference in their lives, helping them navigate their transitions and build brighter futures.
